New 2012-2013 New York State Maple Queen
The Annual New York State Maple Queen contest and Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony was held on May 19th at the American Maple Museum in Croghan. New 2012-2013 maple royalty was selected by three judges.
Each contestant had to arrive by 7am to enjoy breakfast with the judges. After breakfast, an interview session was held. After the interviews, all of the contestants put on gowns and gave public speeches about a topic they chose. Then they were asked a random question on stage. Stephanie Bush gave her goodbye speech as 2011-2012 New York State Maple Queen. Followed by Annaclair Catello who was 2011-2012 New York State Maple Princess. After the Hall of Fame inductions were completed, the winners were announced.
Deidra Hill was crowned 2012-2013 New York State Maple Queen. Deidra is from Delaware County and she works at Shaver-Hill Farm in Harpersfield. The 1st Alternate Maple Queen is Rachael Schmeichel from Oneida County. The 2nd Alternate Maple Queen is Kylie Hint from Western NY. The Miss Congeniality for the pagent is Makayla Fowler from Oswego County.
Tess Legler was crowned 2012-2013 New York State Maple Princess. Tess is from Oneida County and she is a part of Vernon-Verona-Sherrill School's Future Farmers of America program. The 1st Alternate Maple Princess is Makenzie Mattison from Oswego County. The 2nd Alternate Maple Princess is Kylea McAdam from St. Lawrence County.
